Short: DOSBox 0.58 for Amiga 68k OS Author: leo.nard@free.fr (Leo), Various Uploader: lombi iprimus com au (Lorence Lombardo) Type: misc/emu Version: 0.58 Requires: SDL.library Architecture: m68k-amigaos See the archive "SDL-Amiga.lha" on the aminet for the "SDL.library". DOSBox 0.58 MorphOS: PC/DOS Emulator ------------------------------------ Description: ------------ This is a MorphOS port of the DOSBox Emulator: "DOSBox is a DOS-emulator using SDL for easy portability to different platforms, DOSBox has already been ported to several different platforms, such as Windows, BeOS, Linux, Mac OS X... DOSBox emulates a 286/386 realmode CPU, Directory FileSystem/XMS/EMS, a SoundBlaster card for excellent sound compatibility with older games... You can "re-live" the good old days with the help of DOSBox, it can run plenty of the old classics that don't run on your new computer !" - from DOSBox homepage- DOSBox is an emulator which is, unlike Bochs, aimed at games that's why it has good quality SoundBlaster emulation, joystick support,... and unlike Bochs, DOSBox does NOT require the DOS nor a BIOS to run. Please note that DOSBox still only emulate Real Mode: it basically means that you'll be able to run most games/programs released before 1993-1994 (this includes great RPGs and a lot of 256 colors adventure games which were never released on the Amiga). Almost every games released after 1994 are running in Protected Mode: these games won't work at all in current DOSBox. Usage: ------ .First of all, make sure you have some DOS game that runs in realmode (if your game comes with a file called "DOS4GW.EXE", don't ever bother trying it: it is running in protected mode and won't work in DOSBox) and copy it to a directory in the DOSBox directory. (see the notes below) .Then run DOSBox: a black window should be opened with some text written in it. Now type "mount c [dirname]": this will mount the directory containing your game as "C:" in DOSBox .Now type C: to go to the game directory and just run the game/setup like you would do on a real PC/DOS ;) Notes: ------ .Command Line options are broken in this release .There are problems with mounting directories with absolute path in the MorphOS version (Amiga68k version seems to be OK): if you try to mount a directory with absolute path (ie.: dh1:mydir) you'll have problems listing the directory or accessing the directory in DOSBox... So please always use relative directories... .You can change the emulation speed by changing the cpucycles in the DOSBox.conf file: increasing the value may speed up the emulation a little .For more information on DOSBox, have a look at the DOSBox official website: you'll find a list of supported games, a good forum,... .Please do not mail me with problems regarding the MorphOS version: as I don't have it, I won't be able to help you ! ;) Leo. leo.nard@free.fr http://nogfx.free.fr/morphos Feeling bored ? :) Why not check out this URL ? http://home.iprimus.com.au/lombi/1/homepage.htm
