What is it?
----------
The Wise Man brings to your Amiga the distilled knowledge of the ancients.
When you double-click on its icon, it displays a wonderful message to
entertain and enlighten you. Hopefully this will raise your karma, thus
encouraging you to achieve a level of cosmic one-ness and helping usher in
a new period of world peace and love.
Do You Believe All That?
-----------------------
No, not really.
So, What Is It Really?
---------------------
The Wise Man is a little program that sits happilly on your workbench and
displays a random humerous message when you double-click its icon. No, really.
Requirements
------------
The Wise Man should work on any Amiga. It's been tested with a 10 meg A1200
and a 1 meg A500, and works fine on both of those.
What Do I Do With It?
--------------------
Stick it anywhere you want. As long as the file Thingy.txt is in the same
directory as the main executable there'll be no problem. If you have a hard
drive, why not put it in your WB-Startup drawer? That way, every time you
boot your Amiga into workbench you'll get a random message automatically
displayed! See this miracle of the modern era...
However, if the file Thingy.txt is NOT in the same directory the Wise Man
will attempt to give you a message and realise he has nothing much to say.
So he'll close down. Which is a shame, really, innit?
Who Wasted Their Time Doing This, Then?
--------------------------------------
Why, tis I, Chris Spicer, he of the Mr Dog Productions. I'm 20, going on 21,
come from the rock-and-roll town of Nuneaton, and I list my hobbies as
crochet, planning world domination and sneaking into ladies changing rooms
in the hope of seeing an inch of naked flesh.
On a more serious note, I've produced my own comic, contributed illustrations,
scripts and short stories to various places, and I write for the excellent
new Amiga magazine Amiga Survivor. Now CU Amiga's closed down, you're going
to want an excellent new replacement, right? Amiga Survivor can supply you with
loads of reviews, up to date news, cheats, interviews much more. Plus, it's the
only place you can read a work-in-progress on Gilbert Goodmate, the hottest
new adventure title around! For details write to Robert Ivesone, 41 Wellstone
Garth, Swinnow, Leeds, West Yorks, LS13 4EJ or e-mail
Robert@Survivor.Enterprise-plc.com. There's an Amiga Survivor website at
http://www.crystal-software.com/AmigaSurvivor/Survindex.com

Where Did You Nick It From?
--------------------------
The source code was borrowed from the NorthC examples disc. The original
was by Steve Hawtin. However, I changed it a little bit to make it my own.
Inspiration for the Wise Words was taken from the following sources:
Murphy's Law Book 2 - More Reasons Why Things Go Wrong
ed. Arthur Bloch
More Murphy's Law - Wrong Reasons Why Things Go More
ed. Arthur Bloch
Star Light, Star Bright, First...
Johnny Hart
However, most of the text was taken from:
