DESCRIPTION
-----------
MelodyRecGUI is an ARexx-based graphical user interface for the
MelodyRec audio recording program. It uses the Triton GUI system
for a clean, font-sensitive interface.

This is a major update after 25+ years, adding modern usability
features while maintaining full backward compatibility.

- Bug fix: Removed invalid 32-bit option (hardware supports 8/16-bit)

- NEW: Auto-detection of MelodyRec in C: and PROGDIR:

KEYBOARD SHORTCUTS

INSTALLATION
------------
1. Copy the MelodyRecGUI drawer to your preferred location

2. Copy libraries to LIBS: (if not already present):
   - libs/triton.library       -> LIBS:
   - libs/tritonrexx.library   -> LIBS:
   - libs/rexxreqtools.library -> LIBS:

3. Copy error text files to S: (optional, for localized errors):
   - s/error_text_e.txt -> S:
   - s/error_text_d.txt -> S:

4. Copy C/MelodyRec and C/Kill to C: or keep in program directory

5. Double-click MelodyRecGUI-eng (English) or MelodyRecGUI-de (German)


REQUIREMENTS
------------
- AmigaOS 2.0 or higher (3.x recommended)
- ARexx (rexxsyslib.library)
- triton.library (included)
- tritonrexx.library (included)
- rexxreqtools.library (included)
- reqtools.library (usually in your LIBS:)
- Melody audio hardware + melodyaudio.device

SUPPORTED BIT DEPTHS
--------------------
The Kato Melody 1200 soundcard has 20-bit AD/DA converters.
Recording is supported at 8-bit and 16-bit (industry standard).
The 32-bit option from V2.0 was removed as it was never supported
by the hardware.


PREFERENCES
-----------
Settings are automatically saved to:
- ENVARC:MelodyRecGUI.prefs (permanent)
- ENV:MelodyRecGUI.prefs (session)

Recent files are saved to:
- ENVARC:MelodyRecGUI.recent
