This has been lying on my work partition for pretty much exactly two and a half years now.
Remember that night when all the digits in the calendar flipped at the same time, and half the world was supposed to be thrown into chaos as millions of computers and other digital devices stopped wo
rking?
And then it all fizzled out and not much happened at all anyway, but that is a different story!
Amiga users, of course, retained their calm in the eye of the storm because we knew that our friendly machines had always been "Y2K proof". But one thing is knowing, another is seeing. I happened to
be home that night (so I've got no life; sue me!) and spent a couple of minutes watching my 1200 make that transition I had simulated earlier (by changing the system date).
A few minutes past midnight I made a screen dump for obvious reasons called "The_Proof". Then I rebooted and got "The_Final_Proof".
So this is not just a couple of screen dumps you are looking at, it's a small cross section of history!

ps: In the year and half that have passed since New Year Day 2K I have upgraded my hard disk, and the new one has a few more partitions. The pattern I am looking at as I type this is the same, but t
he colours are a bit different. I dropped the clock because my monitor was standing on top of my VCR which had it own clock, so I didn't really need one on the screen as well. A few laid out icons ha
ve been added, but apart from that my screen looks pretty much the same. I am still cracking RC5 keys too, but with a newer version of the program. The contest is supposed to end some time this year,
so if you are not already involved check out distributed.amiga.org now!
