CLOANTO SCRIPT DATATYPE V. 40.2
Some Amiga document icons are not associated directly to a text, but rather
to an AmigaDOS command script which in turn could, for example, open a
document in the correct language and with the correct viewing software
depending on the system configuration. This technique is used on several
Cloanto CD-ROMs.
When these documents are viewed with a double-click on their icon, the
transition from the AmigaDOS script to the AmigaGuide document is performed
automatically by the script itself, which is executed and not displayed. If
instead the script is "dragged and dropped" with a combination of programs
such as ToolManager and MultiView, then a DataType such as "Script" is
needed. Otherwise, the viewing software will display (rather than execute)
the AmigaDOS commands.
The "Script" DataType recognizes and executes AmigaDOS command scripts which
are normally processed by tools such as IconX. The script is executed by
emulating a Workbench double-click if the object has an icon (unless its
default tool is a known viewer), or by executing it directly as a script.
DataTypes are supported from version 3.0 of the Amiga operating system.
